The first show was judged by Mr Massilimiano Manucci from Italy. Not a lot of love for our boys but they both managed to place 3rd in their classes so I was happy to place at that level of competition. She is now (pending Dogs ACT approval) <B>'Grand Ch Kysaridge Aurelias Gaia ET JC'</B> after being awarded Best of Breed at yesterday's show in Sydney.  </div> <bR> <div> Gaia's mum is Punky (Ch Neut Ch Kysaridge Gold Aurelia ET JC) and her sire is our lovely boy Nikki (Sup Ch Jelany Red Nikaya For Chilolo Imp Russia)) and was the only girl in the litter. Gaia has done very well in the All Breeds ring and excelled in Specialities winning her class 7 times from 10 specialities entered including Runner Up Best in Show Under Breeder/Judge Linda Costa earlier this month. </div> <bR> <div> Her critique is as follows: "A correctly proportioned and balanced bitch who showed moderation in all things. She has a lovely head and expression, good bone and feet and moved extremely well. To me, she is of a classic Ridgeback style. Classic symptoms of gastric torsion.  Luckily I have the after hours number for my vet so within a half hour, I had her at the vet.  When my vet arrived he immediately inserted an instrument between her last 2 ribs to release the gas which had built up.  This relieved the pressure temporarily and within minutes, she was on the operating table where she stayed for 2 hours.  </div> <bR> <div> Luckily my vet was able to save her and she came through the surgery with flying colours.  It is such a horrible condition.  I decided 2 weeks later to take her to Melbourne with me. She loves to travel and I just wanted to keep an eye on her.  We got to Melbourne on Thursday on 2 November and she had a little diarrhoea which I attributed to the travelling.  </div> <bR> <div> However over the next two days it became much worse so I found a local vet on Saturday midday who diagnosed haemorrhagic gastro enteritis and suggested an overnight stay at an emergency vet so they could give her fluids and stabilise her.  </div> <bR> <div> Poor Ditto has had a rough time but she takes everything in her stride and remained happy throughout the vet visits.  Sunday morning when I collected her from the emergency vet, she bounced out of the surgery as though nothing was wrong! She continued to improve and in a day or so, on a diet of rice and cooked chicken, she was back to normal. I am now sitting at Hamburg airport waiting for the flight home and reflecting on the past week. </div> <bR> <div> What an amazing few days! On Friday I judged the males, Saturday I judged Best Head, Best Gait and Best Ridge and on Sunday I judged the females and Best In Show.  My sincere thanks to Heike Jäger for the invitation to judge over 3 days at the 30th Anniversary shows of the DZRR. Sincere thanks to Arthur and Uta Wilhelmi for meeting us on our arrival and looking after us so well. </div> <bR> <div> Lovely to meet President Thomas Laube and past President Hubertus Steinke and thank you for giving your time to Karen and myself so generously to discuss veterinary issues and hunting.
