Sam now lives with Sharon Rossiter and Anthea Fox, Sonstraal, just outside Edinburgh, Scotland. It was very difficult to part with Sammy but as we have kept his sister, Ripple (Runner Up Best in Show 2004 National), when Sharron wanted to buy him, we decided to let him go once he had been titled and xrayed. Sam was awarded a Best in Show All Breeds here and I believe he is the first BIS RR to be exported from Australia. He has sired 3 litters in Scotland and a daughter from his first litter, Sonstraal
Christmas Eve, is currently enjoying a very successful show career in the
UK. Sam was also Best Ridged Dog at the Newcastle RR Show in April 2003
under Mr Rob Surman.
One evening, Sam suddenly realised there was the mounted head of a fox on the wall at home. He was not happy about this! He barked and barked and jumped up to try to get closer to the fox head and it was a long time before he realised it was not a danger to anyone! Check the photo in Sam's gallery pictures below!
In August 2006, Sam became an English Champion and is the first Australian bred Rhodesian Ridgeback to gain this elusive title. There are only 25 shows each year in the UK at which points can be gained towards an English title and these shows often have in excess of 100 ridgebacks entered.
